Our Director’s Message to You

Dear Chamber Members,

As 2021 comes to a close, and for those of you who were unable to make our annual meeting I thought I would take a moment to update you on all that we at the Chamber have done and what we are working on moving forward.

As many of you are aware we went through a wonderful strategic planning process earlier this year with the talented and insightful Christie Andrus-Nakano from The Human Factor. Four main strategies came from that process as follows:

  • Hosting to bring people together
  • Organizational partnerships
  • Enhance visibility of assets
  • Promotion leader

With these four strategies at the top of our minds we are forging ahead with certain focuses. I’ll take the next few paragraphs to highlight some of them for you.

Cuisine Trail – We would like to encourage and enhance this trail as an easily accessible and enjoyable asset of the county. Within the next 6 months we will be adding additional members and associate members as well as creating an annual Cuisine Trail event to highlight our businesses along the route.

Small Business Saturday – We plan on compiling a list of all our businesses who will be partaking in this annual event November 27th. With delayed shipping and low inventory on many items this is the perfect year to focus on shopping local for your loved ones. We also are proud to report that throughout the two fundraisers (144 Envelopes) that we did this last year we were able to purchase the prizes from our local small businesses and give back to them $10,000 worth of sales! Thank you for everyone who took part in the process!

LC33 – Our LC33 hiking challenge is off to a great start and people spent their summer taking us up on this amazing offer to explore Lewis County. We want to continue our path forward with this and expand it within the school districts. A big thank you is being sent out to Copenhagen Central School. The Copenhagen Teachers Assocation has started hiking our trails in an effort to identify which would be the best trails for monthly school highlighted trails. Let’s get everyone outside and enjoying our natural resources!!

Fall Foliage & Riverfest – Both of these events went off without a hitch this year and we are excited to do them again next year. Fall Foliage will be focused in the New Bremen, Croghan, Beaver Falls and Diana region October 1, 2022. Riverfest will be either July 30 OR August 6 (date TBD) but we are excited to continue growing that event every year.

Professional Advancement – Over the next year we will have TWO Leadership Academy classes. A modified 6-session program from January through June and a full 10-session program starting September. We will also be hosting round table discussions and educational discussions on topics that have been requested from all of you.

In addition to all of that we have a cross county bike ride, murals going up across the county and so many more partnerships and events to help with that I could go on for another two pages! We are excited for our direction and we are excited to have all of your participation. Please follow us on Facebook and watch our events calendar on our website to stay up to date on everything happening!
