OVERVIEW
Living and working in the North Country, chances are we have some level of awareness of poverty—personally, professionally, or both. Bridges Out of Poverty offers a framework to go a few layers deeper into understanding how economic class affects the way we view and interact with the world. It also provides a model for how we use this knowledge to foster a community in which everyone can live well. This two-hour training will introduce the key Bridges elements, including the “triple lens” of economic class, mental models of poverty and middle class, “tyranny of the moment,” hidden rules of economic class, and more. This training will provide a solid overview of the dimensions of poverty and its impact and is a good first step toward adopting a collaborative approach to building a sustainable community.
